Dear Friends and Fellow Aficionados,
Greetings. I'm writing to announce that a date has been set for an annual presentation celebrating the unique literary contributions of horror fiction writer, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, forever of Providence, Rhode Island. The H.P. Lovecraft Tribute Service will take place on Sunday, March 14, at the 1891 Ladd Observatory, frequented by H.P. Lovecraft in his boyhood years. Christian Henry Tobler, historian author of erudite and splendidly illustrated texts on German medieval combat, will preside as our Master of Ceremonies. In the attached jpg file which may accompany a notice published in the Providence Journal, Mr. Tobler is pictured standing on the front ground of Ladd Observatory.
In the years since the first such occasion held on March 15, 1987 the H.P. Lovecraft Tribute Service has become something of a Rhode Island tradition! Typically this annual event draws in excess of 130 persons. Gothic or vintage style attire is encouraged.
After the proceedings at Ladd Observatory, all will be invited to gather at the gravesite of H.P. Lovecraft in Swan Point Cemetery, precisely two miles north from the performance setting.
H.P. Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890 and died on March 15, 1937.
"Spring approaches, and Lovecraft's in the air!"
