The press is active in print and on-line and has more than 300 publications to date (http://www.poetspress.org/ ). Brett’s newest collection of poetry is the highly acclaimed An Expectation of Presences (2012). Other recent books include the 20th anniversary edition of Poems from Providence (2011) and the new edition of Anniversarius: The Book of Autumn (2011). He has also recently prepared annotated editions of Matthew Gregory Lewis’s Tales of Wonder, the poetry of Charles Hamilton Sorley, A.T. Fitzroy’s antiwar novel Despised and Rejected, and the first volume of the collected writings of American poet Emilie Glen. His play Night Gaunts about horror writer H.P. Lovecraft was staged in Heidelberg, Germany in 2006, and also broadcast as a radio drama in Boston. His verse play, Carlota, Empress of Mexico, was given a staged reading by The Writers' Circle of Providence in the summer of 2007. He designs distance learning curricula and teaches literature in the Women’s Studies Department at the University of Rhode Island in Providence. There, he has created courses on “The Diva,” “Women in Science Fiction,” and “Radical American Women,” among others. Brett’s interests include classical music and opera; Chinese art, history and literature; bicycling, graveyards, woods, horror films, intellectual history, and crimes against nature.
