The Dark Nations
By Khan
There have been so many attempts to unify the community that it makes
one's head spin, and they all become just a memory. And usually not a
good one. So, I started setting up The Dark Nations. A site with
something a bit different than the "assimilate the masses" mentality.
I created a basic template for establishing official diplomatic status
between willing groups, complete with basic parameters for ambassadors
and embassies. It's a bit of a bold jump from what we're used to, and
many will just shake their heads.
I am tired of the kiddie pools. I am tired of flame wars and gossip
being the way we are known to each other. I am tired of seeing the
Vampire Nation's, COVICA's, and anything along those lines mired in
limbo. I think they failed because they tried to establish a group
first, and then the rules to play by later, usually leading to
argument and eventually stagnation. So perhaps putting it in reverse
order might be what is needed to make being dignified work.
It starts between two groups. They set the tone for how they want to
deal with their business. And this is done with knowledgeable folks
who are capable of setting the tone for others to follow. They, then,
can invite others to join into an agreement, and I hope, start a chain
reaction where decency and common understanding become the norm.
I am tired of being part of a subculture, and am ready for us to
become a civilization. There are more than enough brilliant people who
can pull this off.
From the Site:
Criteria For Embassy Participation
Please Provide -
1. House Name:
2. House Inception Date:
3. Number of Current Full Members :
(no open membership groups, yet)
4. Core Philosophy of House:
Once all criteria are met, we shall welcome your embassy and

your success.
Note:
* Illegal, antagonistic, and RPG based systems will not be accepted.
* Minors are excluded from participation in any aspect of Dark Nations
without physical receipt of a NOTARIZED legal consent form from their
legal guardian. We don't need legal issues, and this is for grown-ups.
Statement of Purpose:
This is the culmination of an attempt to add some dignity to the
community at large. This premise not only is meant for the online
community, but also occasions where our kind congregate for a myriad
of purposes in public.
Though we know variations of the system have been attempted, or
currently employed in a different form, it is time for our
communications in its various forms to evolve into something more
productive than its current state, and we hope that in time, can
become a model for how all Houses and groups conduct business with
each other.
In creating ambassadors and embassies, there are many possibilities as
to how the final result is shaped. Our original intention was that,
either online or in person, an embassy be created. The purpose is that
we allow what is shown to the public to be kept at a minimum, and thus
gives the opportunity to have a filter as to who has access to our
thoughts and beliefs. We believe this would seriously curtail the
activities of those looking for fun or other-than-productive purposes
from diluting what we attempt to do as a whole. We wish this to be the
standard bearer of productivity amongst us.
Secondly, in appointing an ambassador (and a deputy if need be), one
person can act as a liaison between outside entities and the House,
where the business of the House can be given the proper attention away
from community politics. In requesting members in good standing with
other groups to act in such an accord, we might set a standard where
those that do the talking outside the walls actually use their best
judgment in how our kind are portrayed.
We have in this tool, should you wish to employ it, the ability to
change the way our kind think as a collective whole. This gives us the
ability to "recognize" those whom we wish to deal with, and those that
we don't can be given no heed at all. In essence, it gives us the
power of Sin Nomine before any instance occurs, and then respect be
given as it is shown, if need be. It will also provide a model for
those who follow in our footsteps as how to create a productive means
for conducting their own business.
This can also be given as a gift to those we wish to maintain strong
ties with, so that they can help standardize the model we present in
their dealings with others. Therefore, House "A" can have their own
standard for communicating with Clan "B", and we are not required to
do so without all parties agreeing to the same standard. It helps
promote agreeable compromise, which is what we truly hope to be the
end result.
This site is by invitation only, so that established groups can set
their delegations and create a known spokesperson for their House.
Quality shan't be sacrificed for quantity, so if you are interested, I
ask your patience in advance. If your House, Clan, or Order does not
meet the criteria, please be prepared for an alternative means of
participation. One day, I hope it available to all. For the time
being, however, this shan't be the case until we, collectively, agree
on daily business conduct.
This concept has been endorsed by The House of the Dreaming. If you
meet the criteria, please contact me (Khan@...) or Madame
X (themadamex@...) if you are interested in participation.
