Greetings everyone!
I wish I could say I am delighted to be back…but the truth is that I would love to have stayed in Savannah, at least for a little while longer.
Wulfsunus, Archere and Cyerce accompanied me in my southern venture.
Our extended weekend stated at ResErection at Club One, Savannah’s longest running Goth night, where we listened and danced to great selections by DJ Syntax Error and DJ Shrapnel. There we met with our Old Friends Aislin, Tygre, James, Jay, Snake Eyes, TJ who we met in person for the first time, and Walter who now has facial hair… lol We also made some new friends like Brandon, Samantha and Carrie. The great thing about Savannah is the drink prices…. $7 for a bottomless cup! $3 top shelf mixed drinks… We were very spirited when we left… good thing we walked back to the hotel… The Thunderbird!
On Friday Wulfsunus, Archere, Cyerce and I met up with Aislin and Gaemesh (and their beautiful babies) and got a slow southern start on River Street for breakfast and shopping . The weather was perfect blissful in fact. There was a breeze that inspired us to buy kites…and off to the beach we went. At Tybee Island we sailed a terrifying pirate ship and a terrible black bat into the sky… then we went swimming. It was a wonderful afternoon.
That evening we met with NyxFury as we had Family matters to attend to. Aislin and Archere became the newest members of our family, House of the Dreaming, and Wulfsunus, NyxFury and I were there to welcome them. Algernon and Bholanath conveyed that welcome but were sorely missed.
Then with Brandon, Lady Croft and TJ all of us were off to dinner at Logan’s Stake House… you could just imagine the waitresse’s facial expression when everyone ordered a rare steak…lol
That evening we went to a few bars, namely Venus de Milo, who boasts the best Chocolate Martinis adorned with pretty chocolate sauce hexagrams, and Notorius a subdued cigar bar. It was great to catch up with old friends and make new friendships with those who we had only met thru the internet and phone (…webcam for some…).
Saturday was the day of the String Fling pagan event. And because I was selling copies of the Vampyre Almanac, I missed out on all the lectures and extracurricular fun that day offered. SpringFling offered the community a day filled with informative lectures, presentations, workshops, and rituals plus an nice array of local pagen vendors offering books, incense, oils, minerals, jewelry, clothing, home décor, and handicrafts that not only pagans could love. It was great to reconnect with my good friend Adrianna the event organizer, Casey her husband and their 2 kids. That afternoon I finally met ShadowEyes who trekked down to meet us from Atlanta and his friend Ghost. I also had the pleasure of Meeting Luis one of the guest Speakers on Santaria, I missed his lecture but had the opportunity to spend a good part of the evening exchanging ideas with him, I hope to stay friends with him for a long time. I also met the lovely Maya, a tribal Belly Dancer who was conducting a class, that I also missed, but that Cyerce and Aislin bragged about the whole night…lol
After all the vendors packed their goodies, we headed to Tybee Island once again, but this time the wind blew in harsh gusts and the ocean was crisp and peaked. We spent few hours with Shadow and Luis at a bar called Spankies… which is right next door to Fannies…go figure…lol
That night we headed to Adriana’s house for a barbecue Dinner… we were late and ate leftovers, but it was fun to socialize with Tygre, Gaemesh, Shadow, Ghost, Wulfsunus, Casey, Adriana, Luis, Cyerce and all the other folks that were in attendance.
We finally reconnected with Brandon, Nyx, Archere and Lady Croft who were AOL for most of the day, at a Burgers and Billiards pub aptly called B&B. There I finally got to see my good friend Jason! And sip on Shadows’ Dead Man…lol (I owe you a secret, Shadow)…
Sunday morning we left…
It was a short weekend I’m afraid. But something we must do again soon.
I must say that I really enjoyed meeting Shadow and TJ in person and that plans are already in the works to reconnect in person very soon.
I’d love to read individual recounts of the weekend from those who were there.
