OCT needs:

(1) A technical director: someone who understand web technologies and can build a website which will cater to OCT as being more than just a forum, but a complete movement to promote free communications throughout a loosely defined vampire community.

(2) A caretaker [I specifically don't want to use the term moderator -- the person's aim shouldn't be moderation as such]: someone who can weed through a potentially limitless amount of postings and remove spam (erring on the side of freedom). May also help to catagorize submissions and moving submissions to the appropriate catagories, keeping information accessible and lowering the ratio of information to noise within any given catagory.

(3) A marketing director: someone who understands how to reach and draw an audience to a website.

(4) At least one on-staff writer: someone who will write regular articles (hopefully weekly or better) with commentary on the vampire community or issues potentially effecting or of interest to the vampire community. Content does not need to be unique to OCT though anything reposted from elsewhere should only be reposted with permission and original content [even if non-exclusive] is prefered. This person won't so much be "the voice of OCT" as the tinder to make sure OCT always has thought provoking discussions that will invite readers and encourage intelligent debate.

(5) An ombudsman: who investigates complaints and mediates fair settlements, especially between aggrieved parties. The mediation may be public or private (depending upon the complaints and the needs or desires of the aggrieved parties). Mediation between parties aggrieved by the contents of OCT will always be public (so that the public will fully understand the policies of OCT and be able to contribute their input.)


To apply, the applicatant should send me [at Bholanath@orderofthecrimsontongues.org with "[OCT Forever]" in the subject line] an essay, using as many words as the applicant feels necessary which tells me what the applicant feels free speech means, what the vampire community is, and what the person is both willing and [very importantly, also] able to do for OCT and the vampire community in general.

If possible, the applicant should also provide character references, information about relevant experience, and a disclosure of any conflicting interests (such as affiliation with a House which may influence him to inappropriately keep a particular topic quiet).

No sinecures will be assigned (meaning: no work = no title).

All positions are volunteer only.


[Not sure of the exact structure which will govern the new OCT: this will need to be worked out among the volunteers I accept. However, the staff of OCT should be considered OCT's servants, not its leaders: the powers they will wield shall be to match their responsibilitys and not to be wielded as a hammer of authority.]
