Yay! I back you guys 100%. It's time to "cull the herd" and get rid of some of the dead weight. It drives me nuts to see folks squat and never participate. I there are some intelligent individuals out there who aren't just using thier heads for that racks, but it'd nice to see them share that here sometime...
Of course, life happens, but I am a firm believer that if you are passionate about something, you will make time for it, or atleast make a dang good attempt.

I know life happens, but really, surely someone can atleast find the time to come here once a month and say something if the interest is truely there, besides, how can you get to know someone if you never interact?

I'd advise the use of login statistics as well, to better coordinate the movements of those on the site. Most CMS's have them built in, or can be added with a minimum amount of fuss.

Having run several boards, it makes it easier to see who signs in and reads, who reads and posts, or who just made an account and forgot about it.

Phase two of our “Spring Cleaning” is complete.
HotD has effectively deleted all forum subscribers that have been members for at least 3 months and have never posted; and has deactivated the accounts of those members who have not posted for over 3 months. This ‘3 month dormancy policy’ will be maintained, where as there will be a periodic deactivation of non-participating accounts after a 3 month absence

We will now initiate Phase three - the deactivation and deletion of all users who have never posted on the forum despite being with us for over 30 days. Our ‘30 day first-post wait policy’ will be maintained, whereas there will be a periodic deactivation of non-participating accounts after 30 days of registration

Although log in dates may tell us who has been lurking, it is not an effective way to monitor genuine interest and participation. Should anyone be deactivated, that wants to return as an active participant, they are most welcome to contact myself or our Gatekeeper, Bholanath.
